Accessibility
Accessibility is as unique as your individual needs.
The Able Environments team is proud to be the nation's premier Accessibility, Universal Design, and Age-in-Place real estate specialists and referral network. We created the language and search criteria that Washington state realtors use to buy and sell accessible homes, and we’re quickly gaining ground in other states.
Accessibility in a home can take many forms. You may have current requirements, or you may be thinking toward the future. Whatever your needs, our goal is to give our clients an equal opportunity to enjoy a home that’s as unique as they are.

Universal Design
This is the term used in the design of buildings, products or environments to make them accessible to the greatest extent possible to all people without the need for adaptation or specialized design, regardless of age, ability, or other factors. With Universal Design, everyone has an equal opportunity to enjoy a home that meets their needs now and know that that home will be there for them even when or if those needs change.

Adaptability & Visitability
The term Adaptability means the ability to modify a home to meet the accessibility requirements to safely and easily navigate a home. Visitability means that the home doesn’t necessarily offer livable options so much as space to safely visit the owner of the home

Age-in-Place
Most adults would prefer to age in place—that is, remain in their home of choice as long as possible. Modifications can often be made to bring home Age-in-Place standards. Typically, homes without stairs or with one-level living plans are more friendly for Age-in-Place living.
